Exciting news!  The Crossing Arts Alliance received a grant from The Five Wings Arts Council for our second “Poetry on the Wall” project and event. The project goal is to inspire and uplift poets by honoring their art form.

The Crossing Arts Alliance (TCAA) invites those interested to submit up to three poems for Poetry on the Wall. Poets, consider this opportunity to exhibit your work and read during the reception.

The Submission deadline is January 10, 2014.  Poets of any age must have resided for at least four months of the past year in the following counties of Minnesota: Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena. Poetry must be submitted using black text on white background only (no graphics), preferably submitted as a Word file or PDF via email to info@crossingarts.org by Jan. 10, 2014. (If you are using an unusual font, provide the poem as a PDF.) Poetry submitted on a white 8.5 x 11” sheet will also be accepted. The submission fee of $15 per poet (or $10 for Crossing Arts Alliance members) helps defray the cost of the reception/reading.

No poetry shall violate any copyright and must be appropriate for a general audience. Poetry may be published or unpublished work. Poets will be notified Jan. 15, 2014, via email, as to whether or not the poems were accepted by the jury. Contact TCAA at 218-833-0416 or info@crossingarts.org if you have any questions.

A juried exhibition opens January 23 and runs through February 28 at the Q Gallery in Brainerd. Poets are invited to read their poetry at the poets’ reception and reading on February 8, from 1-3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Poets are encouraged to invite guests. A People’s Choice will be chosen at that time offering a $100 cash prize. The event features award winning author Sheila O’Connor as our guest MC.  A booklet featuring selected submitted poetry will be made available.
